Re: Some Photo's with my New Lens
Hi Spike,

This is the sort of lens that I should get, really. They are mighty big and heavy, though. Not cheap, either.

How far away were you with the dragon fly shots. I imagine 6-8 feet. That is impressive; and bird in flight shots should now be well within your reach.

I am losing weight and getting fitter. Carrying such a lens around mat become a feasibility for me.

Re: Some Photo's with my New Lens
Hi Geoff,

I'm not finding the lens too big or heavy. It sticks out around 125mm from camera body at 55mm, obviously a lot further at the 300mm end, and according to the specs it weighs 18.7oz. I paid around £220 at ProCameraShop but the price has gone up this week. Amazon have it at just under £225 so as lens go, not too expensive. I've only had it a couple of days but so far very pleased with the quality.

I would have been about 5ft away from the dragonfly when I took these shots.

Since moving from the FZ45 to the D90, the only thing I missed was the zoom range of the FZ45, and this lens has solved that problem.

Hi Spike,

1lb 3 oz doesn't seem so heavy does it?

I have never changed lenses. But I guess that can be quite quick when you are used to.

Maybe I'll take the plunge this Christmas.

It just takes seconds to change the lens Geoff, but I always do it at home, I've never changed the lens when I am out and about.

Re: Some Photo's with my New Lens
Thanks, I've just had mine about 6 months now but I really like it.
I had the Panasonic FZ45 before the Nikon D90 and I thought that was excellent, but the dSLR is definitely a step up.

Coughing up is the problem. You also have to sort of know that you will get personal value for your money.

I personally, have found it to be a great encouragement for my photography which is made noticeably easier, too. There are lots of headaches, too, like which lenses and accessories to buy. If you don't have at least some restraint it gets run-away expensive, also.
