Hi Spike,
To be fair, here, although you were not ready and prepared for the shot, you managed it well. In addition to the image being "stunning" and otherwise noteworthy, your having managed the shot so well is what I wanted to pick up on. Geoff Geoff |

When you post on this site you expect comments on your photo's, good or bad, and these comments can help to improve your picture taking, but snide comments like the one above do nothing for anyone. I have a great respect for you Geoff, and for the work that you do on this site, but the worst decision you have ever made is appointing that loudmouth idiot as an administrator. I read the comments he made to another member a few days ago and was disgusted by them, and I will certainly not put up with this kind of comment. I guarantee that he will chase many more members away from the site than he will ever attract. Bye, Spike |

RE: Sunday 27th November. Photograph of the Week (POTW).
Hi Spike,
I felt, Leon, probably meant to imply that his work was no good in comparison and that therefore he should resign. But let's see if we can get this sorted out. The other post to which I think you are referring, is one that was possibly getting a bit confrontational. I preferred to play a good cop role; and I think it helped for Leon to be playing something of a bad cop role. In my own case with my experience on forums, I indeed did used to get successfully flamed; and some characters have an extreme knack of giving aggravation. I try now to diffuse confrontation, where I can. Mostly, and I should know from my teaching experience, it is better to avoid confrontation. But to do this you have to learn so much diplomacy. It probably did not help that Leon's comment was a one liner, because it is possible to misunderstand a one line comment. But let's hope this was a misunderstanding. Geoff There is another thing I have just realised, because I have been drafting the rules and stuff, this afternoon. There is a report facility (a button next to posts). Very often that is a good way of communicating things that anyone may feel upset about. I am, of course, not saying don't always refrain from complaining directly on forum. I feel fairly strongly, that with such a small forum, weu should be able to do that. I also feel that we should be able to muster the diplomacy to sort things out, too. Geoff Geoff |

Congratulations Spike,
A worthy winner of POTW, the more i look at it the more i like it, its well captured and i think what makes it so good is that you captured it before the swan got too far above ground, in capturing the grass, it almost looks surreal, well done. Rod |
