RE: where are you from?
I would recommend you enter:

South Shields, Tyne and Weir, UK

That gives the google server a chance to differentiate your location form any other similar ones in the English speaking World.

I changed my location back to Brentwood, Essex, UK last night; but the google server has not moved me from Ipswich yet. So I do reckon it takes up to two days for the Google server to update.

It is a truly incredible map feature, but it must cost google a bit. I reckon, therefore, that google do economise a bit on the server overheads.

RE: where are you from?
My Location has now come up on the map correctly. So, we have it that is best to specify you location in the profile as earlier suggested. Also the google server appears to refresh itself every three days or so.

RE: where are you from?
If you look in the main menu there is an item for User Map

Now the story is this. I was working away today recovering lost files from a database back up; and the old version of this was proving very hard to get working again. So I looked around for a new way of doing it!

This one is an absolute beaut! You type in your location and up your user name and avatar comes! (it doesn't read from the stored data, like the last software.)

You come up instantly, too. Remember to enter your County/ Metropolitan Region and Country, if necessary.

Finally, remember to press the SAVE button!
