Posting Images from Flickr or Photobucket
The first thing to do either in Flickr or Photobucket is to find the image you want to post into BCUG.

But, at this point, I should say that although you do not need to know exactly what an image url is, you will, in a moment, need to copy the image url using the browser you are using (Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer).

Depending on your browser, you may need to come back to the sub-article, below.

(1) How to copy an image url, and why you need to do this.
Quite often, we need to show images on this site that are on other sites. E.g. you will have images on your Photobucket or Flickr account which you want to display on this site.

Also you often need to copy the location of where an image is on the web into the site Exif Viewer of Photo Editor, if you want to examine or work on such a picture that is stored somewhere else (eg on Flickr or Photobucket) but is displayed on BCUG.

Although you do not necessarily need to know what an image url is, you will --in the course -- of being a member of this site need to copy and paste these urls. For those who want to know, an image url is the exact web address of that image; it can also be linked to other locations, but when it is, you always want the exact location; and that is its image url.

So here is how you find and copy the image url of any picture that you see. For different browsers, how you do that is different, too.

For Firefox you Right Click on the image, select Copy Image Location from the context menu drop down. It is now copied to your computer and can be pasted, where you like.

For Chrome you Right Click the image, select Copy Image URL from the context menu drop down. It is now copied to your computer and can be pasted, where you like.

For Internet Explorer you Right Click the image, select Properties from the context menu drop down. There you will see the Protocol ,Type ,Address(URL), Size ,Dimensions. You literally copy (Crl + C) the image URL, so that you can then paste it wherever you want.

Learning how to do this (if you don't already know) is a core skill needed on this site. You will not be able to participate to any useful extent until you have learned how to do this. Also, this skill is needed whenever you vote in the Monthly Competition.
Having found the image that you want to "replicate" on BCUG, the next thing you do is navigate up through the available images sizes that are available.

(2a) Flickr -- Navigating to the largest image size.

So here you are at the starting image size. You then right click over the image and get a pop up menu and you select the large size.
300 px wide. Enlarge in [^popup] or [^new tab].
İmage
When you get to the large image, you right click that. Note, if you are right handed then this mouse button will be the one controlled by your second or third button.
(2b) Photobucket -- Navigating to the largest image size.
On Photobucket, you choose the thumbnail of the desired image and click it until you've got to the largest display size. you right click that. Note, if you are right handed then this mouse button will be the one controlled by your second or third button.
300 px wide. Enlarge in [^popup] or [^new tab].

In Firefox, this is how the drop down menu looks (The image shows the process for Flickr, but is very similar in Photobucket). If you are using a browser other than Firefox, you should expand panel (1), above, which contains the various details.

After having copied your image url and back in BCUG, create your New Thread or New Reply. You will see an icon with a mountain and sun... that is the "picture" icon (The tooltip which shows is "create image"). Click on that to open a popup which asks for your image url (which you now have). Just Press Ctrl + V to paste it in; you need to overwrite the "http://" which was already there.

Click the OK button; and you will see a line like this appear:

You can now click somewhere else in the edit window and post another image-url or enter some some description.

You can use the Preview Post or Post Reply buttons to see how your work looks.
