Posting Images from Flickr or Photobucket
The first thing to do either in Flickr or Photobucket is to find the image you want to post into BCUG.
But, at this point, I should say that although you do not need to know exactly what an image url is, you will, in a moment, need to copy the image url using the browser you are using (Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer). Depending on your browser, you may need to come back to the sub-article, below. (1) How to copy an image url, and why you need to do this. (2a) Flickr -- Navigating to the largest image size. (2b) Photobucket -- Navigating to the largest image size. 300 px wide. Enlarge in [^popup] or [^new tab]. ![]() In Firefox, this is how the drop down menu looks (The image shows the process for Flickr, but is very similar in Photobucket). If you are using a browser other than Firefox, you should expand panel (1), above, which contains the various details.
After having copied your image url and back in BCUG, create your New Thread or New Reply. You will see an icon with a mountain and sun... that is the "picture" icon (The tooltip which shows is "create image"). Click on that to open a popup which asks for your image url (which you now have). Just Press Ctrl + V to paste it in; you need to overwrite the "http://" which was already there. Click the OK button; and you will see a line like this appear: You can now click somewhere else in the edit window and post another image-url or enter some some description. You can use the Preview Post or Post Reply buttons to see how your work looks. Geoff |
