Tips and Shortcuts and Info on Greeting New Members
There is a MyCode short cut, [flickr] that I have built, and this produces the block.
Quote:If you use Flickr or Photobucket and want to display images from those sites, then here is a Guide.
So when inviting new members to display pics, I often follow with that boilerplate short cut.

The quickest way to get to a new member's camera details is by getting to the profile from the Please welcome our newest member line, in the Board Statistics at the bottom of the page.

Upon registration, new members are online and can wait for their activation email. But sometimes they are not directly interested in following that up. Some forums (e.g. Bridge Corner) are set so that posts cannot be viewed unless you have first become a member, and also there is a limit set on how many posts you can view as a guest. So for some "members", they have only arrived in this non-committal way because they are researching some points and have found google links that they wish to follow... essentially they will be "lurkers".

Often people can get into the same sort of tiz that we all know about when choosing a new camera; and they get to this forum but only want to read comments on cameras. The personal invitation gets responded to in something like forty percent of instances, but encouraging that response is very worthwhile.

Lots of the underlying aspects and factors have been optimised. There is the google links aspects and the limitations on what guests can freely view. And these are things where a body of knowledge has been built up over time; many members indeed have given me very good tips on how to cultivate these optimisation procedures.

BTW. it would be quite all right to ask questions and discuss aspects, by adding to this thread. I don't think there are any "trade" secrets I have given away or will give away. Indeed, I am indebted to those who have given me tips over the years.
