Good Composition is not a Science...
It's an art. It is also something that I return to from time to time. Sometimes I have a challenging shot which needs careful cropping or indeed one which I could go back for another try at. Lots of my shots are like that, too.
So I can google and find sample shots with evaluations of why that composition is thought to work well. Pscychology figures in what we think is pleasant to look at, too. So here's one site, I've been browsing http://www.photographymad.com/pages/view...tion-rules Also don't forget to look at the work of great photographers and critiques of their shots. Ansel Adams and "The Tetons and Snake River" is one of my favourites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Adams_..._River.jpg The wikimedia copy is in the public domain, so therefore I can duplicate it.
