More shots of Hertford (12/01/12)
There is an early medieval castle. This shot shows part of the walls. The castle you see, in the distance, is more modern.[Image: hertford_castle_1.jpg]
This next shot is taken form the other side of the castle wall. I felt it was inevitable that I needed to blow away part of the sky, but others may disagree. Certainly I had to recover a lot of the detail that was in shadow. Another time of day, and it could have been a different story!

This image was quite a pleasant surprise for me... I did not appreciate it's potential at time of shooting!

RE: More shots of Hertford (12/01/12)
In addition to my usual processing repertoire, I have started to play with the Hue, Lightness and Saturation control. This will let you have some control over what is more popularly known as Fujification. The sky is perhaps more blue than one would see with the naked eye.

Here I have tried to correct for the excessive blueness that you get in the clear midday sun.

RE: More shots of Hertford (12/01/12)
Thanks Martin, I do now love to play with composition, lighting and tones of shots.

I guess with each of these shots I had to briefly think of what the later post processing could do for it, before I pressed the button.

This is still fun but just a different kind of fun. I still have shots from that day that I haven't processed and worked up to standard, yet. The RAW previews do not look very good and it is now easier for me to use my minds eye to interpret how they could come out. In earlier times I had to experiment and do trial and error stuff to build up the skills, too.

Interestingly, Frank, I have now realised that a lot of the sky in that last shot can usefully now be cropped out.
