RE: Hi ether823 and welcome aboard!
It appears to share something with the Nikon P500 in that it does not allow raw processing. I checked the manual.

I am also looking at this page.
I was condidering the S3280 but a few reviews have said the images are very grainy, the S2950 has problems in low light, so it might be the S4000 for me. I like the idea of going back to a view finder (electric or otherwise). I just enjoy landscapes and the like and at £160 is`nt going to break one`s bank.
If you do a lot of landscape work then you may well want to get good at tweaking images; and I know some on the forum will murder me for saying this.

So the question is do you want to get serious about processing your images. If the answer is in the affirmative then you will want a model that allows you RAW capability. OK, you may not use it for a while; but you can dual track and set your camera to produce a RAW and a jpeg. This will let you rework your earlier shots, at a later date.

Does that line of looking at things interest you?

I am not quite sure which bridge camera with RAW capability would be the cheap and suitable choice.

But with landscape work bridge cameras are fairly suitable. It depends on whether you want tot provide for that capability and at what price.

RE: Hi ether823 and welcome aboard!
I have done some browsing on the S3400. And I guess this a sound camera for those starting out.

I think personally I would prefer a Panasonic fz45 or one of models close to that. All of these cameras are hard work to start using well. But we do try to explain some of the issues. Theses cameras still have lots of buttons and stuff. I found a summary page for the S3400 at http://snapsort.com/cameras/Fujifilm-S3400

I would recommend browsing and discussing at Jessops and buying at the cheapest price from the Internet.
