Hi Lyngreen and welcome aboard!
Hi there and welcome aboard Lyngreen,

Please read carefully. Your account is activated!

This is an automatically generated posting; and personalised welcome postings from our members will follow soon. We have started to register members automatically on sign up. And we need to upgrade your membership, as soon as we see posts about photography that you have made. If you experience any problems, please use the Contact Us facility.

Firstly, you may find our Useful Info Page (link also placed in the main menu bar) useful to check out. We recommend that you find time to check it out.

Another thing we would like to mention is our anti spam bot protection, and such bots wreak great havoc if they manage to get full access rights. We do not really know that you are not a bot until we have seen your first posts on photography. In the meantime you are limited to four posts per day, one of which can be a new thread; the personal messaging system is also disabled, just for the moment. Hopefully, we will spot your photography posts quickly and upgrade your membership quickly, too.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter of our preserving the integrity and smooth running order of the site. Because we have not yet done an email check, you may receive an email from us asking you to confirm receipt of same.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your time on this messaging board.

Kind Regards,

The BCUG Admin Team

RE: Hi Lyngreen and welcome aboard!
Hi Lyn,

Congratulations on your purchase of a HS20 EXR.

I guess you haven't even take any shots yet. But for when you do, here is how to get your pics on forum

If you use Flickr or Photobucket and want to display images from those sites, then here is a Guide.

Please tell us some more about your plans to develop photography as a hobby. What sort of shots do you want to get good at.

Your camera, BTW, is a most capable model.

Geoff

RE: Hi Lyngreen and welcome aboard!
Thank you for the lovely welcome,

I am not sure what sure at the moment what i would like to photograph, i just want to learn the basics first, my last camera was a 'iPhone' and even thought i captured some lovely pictures on that, I want to know how a 'real' camera works, so instead of taking lovely pictures i want now to take 'outstanding' pictures.

My new camera; Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXR, has so many buttons that I am totally lost, and I would be most grateful I anyone knows of a book I can get from the library that would help me.

Oh yes, it will have a real scary number of buttons... I remember my old FujiS9600.

Perhaps I can show you one of my own personal favourites, in a minute. I think wanting to take good photographs is about Having a Dream!!

Lots of us have been down the road and really want to to help others get there, too.

I am sorry about the server tonight... it's been a nightmare, really!

I'll come back with my photo, in a minute.

So this it.

RE: Hi Lyngreen and welcome aboard!
Hi Lyn,

We have a member (snorri) who uses his iphone with added apps and extra lenses quite a lot. My guess would be that you have some of the more advanced skills already.

The really big advantage with mobile phone photography is having the user friendly touch screen buttons; mainstream cameras will go that way, too, I am sure.

I think it does take time get used to working with the knobs and buttons. They are very carefully designed to be ergonomically placed. And the optimisation of individual shots is what they are about.

The question of which ISO to shoot at doesn't usually come to everyone immediately. So the complexity of the underlying image technology is always there to grapple with... but at your own pace! Wink
