Hi Corblimy and welcome aboard!
Hi there and welcome aboard Corblimy,

Please read carefully. Your account is activated!

This is an automatically generated posting; and personalised welcome postings from our members will follow soon. We have started to register members automatically on sign up. And we need to upgrade your membership, as soon as we see posts about photography that you have made. If you experience any problems, please use the Contact Us facility.

Firstly, you may find our Useful Info Page (link also placed in the main menu bar) useful to check out. We recommend that you find time to check it out.

Another thing we would like to mention is our anti spam bot protection, and such bots wreak great havoc if they manage to get full access rights. We do not really know that you are not a bot until we have seen your first posts on photography. In the meantime you are limited to four posts per day, one of which can be a new thread; the personal messaging system is also disabled, just for the moment. Hopefully, we will spot your photography posts quickly and upgrade your membership quickly, too.

We thank you for your understanding in this matter of our preserving the integrity and smooth running order of the site. Because we have not yet done an email check, you may receive an email from us asking you to confirm receipt of same.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your time on this messaging board.

Kind Regards,

The BCUG Admin Team

Hi,

I've just been quickly checking through the dpreview page for your camera, http://www.dpreview.com/products/nikon/c...kon_cpl120

Have you had your camera long?

If you use Flickr or Photobucket and want to display images from those sites, then here is a Guide.

RE: Hi Corblimy and welcome aboard!
Hello Geoff,

No, the Camera was a Christmas gift from my wife, son & Daughter. My son is a DSLR user and I only have ever owned two Sony Cybershots previously.

I run a website that records the history of some old wartime airfields in the locality, the photos on it all taken by the Sony's. However, in the past year I had been getting very disappointed when trying to take good pictures when on trips, and began hankering for a slightly better Camera.

A full DSLR would be wasted on me, I just wanted to improve the quality a little and so the Nikon apeared on Christmas daySmile Armed with this and a tripod, I hope to contribute a few images from time to time and maybe give others the chance to see how the L120 performs.

But please remember, Im not awfully good at this yet!

First up, Hendon Museum...

RE: Hi Corblimy and welcome aboard!
You have the basic skills, I would say. I think you find that this camera performs better for you, compared with the Sony Cybershot. I would say that you have the patience for it, because you mustn't be in too much of a hurry... you've got to relaxed and comfortable, as it were. And that is how you sound when talking about your shots. They look as though there carefully taken, too.

So have you got a few more shots. The sunset is nice, but the foreground might be capabale of being recovered a bit from darkness; that sky is magnificent. The first picture is excellently composed and exposed.

Just posting under my other username, to get a separate post.

That would be North Weald Airfield?

I live at Brentwood.

Ä’astseaxe... Anglo Saxon... do you speak any? I suppose it is possible for all of us to do that really. Wink

Alias Geoff Slocock.

RE: Hi Corblimy and welcome aboard!
Thank you Geoff,

Composure is something I have only recently been made aware of due to No1 Son giving Dad the benefit of his great learningWink

So yes, I do now try to think about things before I press the button. When photographing old buildings and scenes for my website, I didnt really think about such things. The Nikon is very easy to use with pre set 'scene' programs.

I will post other images up in the gallery part as I dont want to overload the welcome page!

Thanks again for the welcome, I did join another photographic forum but it is aimed more at the DSLR set than the Bridge camera.

No Saxon spoken, I just love the old way of spelling Essex! No, not North Weald, more interested in the hostilities only type, the ones carved out of requisitioned land, not the pre-war expansion period type.

The airfields I am most interested are on my website here...www.wartime-airfields.com.

Hi Denis,

That's all right, it doesn't cause any loading issues, either way.

So you're getting tutored at high speed.

Quite a lot of use dslrs, but we are all willing to be patient and stuff. I think that's about having suffered at each of our earlier stages, or if not that, having had an initial bumpy ride.

Many bridge cameras are capable of quality that is very near to that a dslr. But with a dslr it is probably easier to get high quality results. Certainly the sensor is generally bigger.
