Geoff

I agree the PDF format is ok but still does not beat paper format. I have copied the manual to my iPad so I can use it when/wherever. As you say hopefully time wil be the judge.

As a newbie the only surprise to me about the camera was the Aperture limited to F8. Not sure what this means as yet.

Thanks

George

Hi George,

Here is an article on FZ45 which goes into a bit of detail about maximum aperture.

All of this however will come together, over time. And remember camera manuals are not writen as training courses in photography! Wink

RE: Hi Gran Alacant and welcome aboard!
Hi George,

There is quite a complex relationship between Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO settings on a camera.

I find, for example, that after my several years of experience I still sometimes increase the shutter speed when I really want to to reduce it; the same things can happen with my choice of aperture setting, too. This is no totally big deal, because I can then reason with myself and sort it properly; and take another shot, and delete the botched one.

Increase and decrease of Shutter Speed and Aperture are not intuitive things. You can learn about them but you have to use analogies to get a good hold on what happens. I am afraid it gets a little mathematical!

So the standard advice is just to use fully automatic settings until such time as you are ready to test your wits. Wink

Sound advice I will be sticking with Auto Settings & 'testing my wits' as I go. Will keep you posted on my progress.

Honestly, George, I now do fully manual settings. But I think I am just trying to be "macho". Wiser souls get lots of practice, first with fully automatic, and then either aperture priority or shutter priority! Smile

BTW. Have a look at Frank's fz45 work at http://bridgecamerausers.co.uk/mybb/thread-2255.html
