models and depth of field
…trying to create an illusion using various aperture settings and a model car combined with a ‘real’ back drop.

I used an 18-135mm nikkor zoom to try and pull the background near to the model as well as throw it out of focus.

the 1st picture works reasonably well but I think a little more [practice is required...
but what do you think?

They are fantastic Colin
Wouldn't have known they were model cars.

Thanks for the comment Wink - I think I still need to work on the distance/aperture for the background, it started to rain so I had to stop. I think I also need some grey card to stand the car on too look more like a 'road' ... so that's cornflakes for supper then!

RE: models and depth of field
I'm no expert Colin, but I prefer the first one, the background isn't too blurred and the height of the bushes make the cars look real. Also the height of the car against the front door.
Once again fantastic work. PS. I hope you enjoy your cornflakes.
