Playing around with Picasa

Re: Playing around with Picasa
Thanks Barbara. I have had a look and I admire the work, too.

I have done motion shots of trains where I have used b/w to enhance the dramatic effect.

My experience is rather limited to knowing that you have a lot of choices and I personally found them to be daunting.

I think I had better set a new Sub forum called . Monochrome Work.

I will do that.

Now done. Leave your posts, here, for the moment.

When Tony replies, we will talk about moving your posts into the created sub-forum.

Re: Playing around with Picasa
That sounds cool to me.

But I hope I don't make you blush, by saying that I think your work is talented! Wink

I guess what I am saying here is that monochrome work done well is really worth having a separate slot for.

We had a competition, last year on it, too.

Geoff

Re: Playing around with Picasa
And very good results they are too, Barbara, it is possible to change the sky like this in Picasa if you want to experiment a little further

Or if you don't want to darken the church tower

Probably applying the graduated fill while the image is still full colour gives the maximum effect, as you say it is very appropriate for subjects like this.

Yes, I did, and applied the gradient while the image was still a colured one.

Re: Playing around with Picasa
Picasa is very versatile and should never be dismissed lightly.

The main difficulty faced by newcomers in appreciating this is the commercial pressures that magazines are under to promote PhotoShop as being the only show in town. Their articles and published comments always refer to this and that PhotoShop plugin and then there are the freebie CD's enclosing bundles of PhotoShop "goodies".

Across the web there are those who only ever talk about PhotoShop procedures. Some do this genuinely, but others are as gullible as the actors are in the Windows Seven adverts.

I can tell you that you do not get Nirvana by simply buying Windows Seven or PhotoShop.

Hi Barbara,

Nice bit of colour popping, I like the cropped image, number 3, with the lilac border to match, well done indeed Big Grin
