Passport Photos
My passport is shortly due for renewal. And here is one tutorial that I can work from <!-- m -->nclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dpchallenge.com/tutorial.php?TUTORIAL_ID=22<!-- m -->
I should not have that much difficulty translating from PhotoShop to the Gimp. Dimensions are slightly different, too, as compared the US/ Canadian specifications described. My plan is to get a friend to shoot me against a wall. And maybe I will take the carefully measured and sized jpg of four identical shots along to the Kodak shop to get them printed out. I also might be able to find a friend with a good enough colour printer. Geoff |

Re: Passport Photos
This the UK photo specification <!-- m -->nclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.ips.gov.uk/cps/files/ips/liv ... photos.pdf<!-- m -->. I have another EEC (and dual) nationality, but I am sure this specification would work for that, too.
I propose to get my head around the equivalent commands in the Gimp, and then set them out, although as I will mention shortly this may not be so necessary. For mock up purposes, I am first going to use a photograph of myself that would otherwise be unacceptable. I propose then to experiment with uploading through this service <!-- m -->nclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.photobox.co.uk/shop/prints/p ... -id-photos<!-- m --> but without completing. On the basis of what I have seen on other sites, there may well be software-based aids that do much of the alignment and scaling required prior to being print ready. Geoff |
